Becoming an Exuberant Animal trainer

Applicants are expected to bring some prior experience in physical training, especially in group movement classes. The ideal candidate will have a certificate or degree in some body-related art: physical therapy or training, physical education, dance or martial art, for example. Qualifications and acceptance are reviewed on an individual basis.

The minimum skill set for Exuberant Animal teaching status is based on demonstrated group class leadership skills. This includes the ability to take assertive control of a mixed-ability group class and lead games and movements effectively. The Exuberant Animal trainer will create a balanced atmosphere of gravity and levity, support and challenge (the “safe emergency”).

In addition to meeting basic requirements, applicants are required to pass one or more "supervised solos." These are actual group class events, observed by Frank Forencich or approved EA trainer. During this class session, applicants must display competence in leadership, explaining and inspiring students to vigorous movement. Applicant will be evaluated on presence, pace, clarity of message, timing, assertiveness and sense of humor.
